Thump –- Me-Owww – Thump - Me-Owww

I was laying in my bed, trying to sleep. I closed the door to my bedroom so Meow could not pester me for attention. I was really tired.

Thump –- Me-Owww – Thump - Me-Owww

This was the strangest set of sounds at my door. I was determined not to give in to Meow, and felt I was entitled to my privacy.

Thump –- Me-Owww – Thump - Me-Owww

It sounded like Meow was flinging himself at my door, banging into it, then falling down and crying. This was really odd behavior for a kitten. But I knew how willful he could be, so I decided to go to sleep and just accept that Meow was really strange.

A month or so later, I was sitting in the living room and the downstairs bathroom door was closed. I almost could not believe what I saw. Meow was leaping up to the doorknob and grabbing it with his two front paws. When he jumped up and grabbed the doorknob, his hind legs banged against the door – Thump. Then his paws slipped off the round doorknob and he fell to the floor – Me-Owww. This went on over and over again, but Meow just could not grip the doorknob to turn it. He could hang onto it for a second or two, and try to turn it, but his paws slipped right off each time.

I watched until he gave up, and I never saw – or heard – him try it again. He had seen me open doors by grabbing the doorknob and turning it – and he was trying to open the door the same way!
